I know of a crane that can lift max 5000te, currently being tested. E.g it will lift 2,677te at 50m or 500te at 132m.
Might this be bigger than the ones mentioned above?

Would that be ALE's new machine by any chance?

Actually, I just took a look at your profile...you're in Staffordshire...What a coincidence!

If it is, its only competitor would be Mammoet's MSG 50. Rumor has it that Mammoet is upgrading the '50 so it will interesting to compare the two if thats' done. I saw some early designs of ALE's crane a couple of years ago, and it looks pretty cool. More flexible than the MSG and a unique counterweight arrangement.

How about some photos of the beast?

Got it in one!

It sure does look big, think it will use up to 4000te of c/b... I've got some piccys taken during assembly but I'm not sure if I'll be allowed to post them. How would I go about posting them if I do get permission?

Thanks

craneguy(at)gmail.com please!

You can also ask Doyle Peeks (the site's owner) to post them here for you.

I'm sure he'll be happy to oblige in the interests of fair and balanced reporting! ;-)

If I know, all parts will be manufactured in the Netherlands.

I think unfortunately you have to work for ALE to be able to access the link above.

Anyway guess who gets to go and see it (briefly) next week? Yay, it's me! I'm well excited, can't wait. Gonna try and get a photo of me standing next to it :-))

The Terex Twin is in Abu Dhabi in the UAE. As I look out my window I can see it. It was used last week in Musafah to fit legs on a drill ship. As a carry crane this beast realy is in a class of its own. Interesting fact; the full hook assembly alone weighs 99 ton

Hasn't this machine missed it's first and possibly it's second job due to technical delays?? I heard that the MSG of Mammoet is doing the job in Brasil which was supposed to be the ALE machine's maiden lift.
Any truth in this??

Not quite true as far as I know, I'm involved with shipping it and Brazil was never mentioned to me.

It is interesting on the developement of heavy lift equipment over the last 30 some years.

The dutch crane is a Manitowac ringer designed in the 70's. The additional superlift attachment is an Amhoist skyhorse attachment also designed in the 70's. These two were momumental advances in crane designs of their time. And they were highly competitive with each other.

Hi,
There's a Platform Twinring in Whiting, Indiana just outside of Chicago working at a BP Refinery these days. It's got a really big lift coming up in August 2010 that will be easily visible from outside the plant fences.
